What is Digital Film?

Digital Film is a name that can be used to describe either photos or videos that use the same concepts from analog film, which are images that have high detail potential, precision over contrast control, and that utilize color science in grading images for a specific aesthetic purpose.

I have filmed every single wedding in a file format called .braw which has some of the best color science in the world. I use DaVinci Resolve Studio, a piece of software often used by Hollywood to color grade and edit both my photos and videos.

When using my Panasonic GH7, I have the option of effectively recording both photo and video at the same time when recording at a higher shutter speed. Each frame ends up being a 25 megapixel still with full dynamic range and imperceptible compression compared to a still recorded with a mechanical shutter. This method allows me to offer an incredible value as a solo professional on a wedding day. However, when dedicated only to filmmaking I always use a slower shutter speed so that the frames more closely resemble the classic Hollywood film look.

Why this matters for your wedding:

  • The Solo Edge: I can provide high-end film and photography as a solo professional, reducing the "paparazzi" feel of a large crew.

  • Never Miss a Beat: I don’t have to choose between "getting the photo" or "getting the video." I am capturing both in every second of footage.

  • Artistic Intent: When the moment calls for it, I shift my focus entirely to filmmaking, utilizing a slower shutter speed to achieve that organic, classic Hollywood motion blur.

My business model is to produce work that no one else in the Pittsburgh market is currently offering. I use the most advanced tools and techniques to offer the best value and quality to curate the preservation of your memories.
