The Hat of a Professional Collaborator
I wear several hats. Usually, I just wear one at a time (the one you see in my logo), but metaphorically, I’m swapping them constantly on a wedding day.
Weddings are a bit of a paradox. You probably found me because you saw a beautiful, cinematic portrait and imagined yourself in it. That "staged" beauty is what sells. But on the actual day? You probably want to go hang out at your cocktail hour rather than spend two hours acting as a model for my portfolio while your friends get two drinks ahead of you.
This is where the "weirdness" of weddings happens, and it’s why my favorite images aren't the ones that are perfectly posed.
My favorite shots are the ones that look like a scene from a classic film by accident. But here’s the secret: It’s never actually an accident. It’s the result of me setting a spotlight at the right height, choosing the exact right angle, and communicating with the photography team to ensure the environment is "candid-ready."
My goal is to set the stage so that when a genuine moment happens, it’s captured both with the heart and with the technical precision it deserves.
Sometimes, the day requires a different approach. If you’ve hired other personnel outside of my company, my job is to collaborate. I’m here to help. Whether I’m taking the lead on creative vision or deferring to another person’s flow, my focus remains the same: delivering the highest quality possible while making sure you actually get to enjoy your wedding.
Still… I love the portrait session. Part of me believes I could spend all day just playing with cameras and getting the light just right. But the reason I cover weddings is because I also love the real moments. I live for the interactions between people, the genuine look in the eye a bride gets when she sees her groom crying at the altar. It’s breathtaking to witness.
